The manual provides an up-to-date treatment of the subject, taking into account the main legislative changes caused by the pandemic up to September 2021. It considers the systemic effects of vaccination obligations, the long experience of smart working in public and private employment, changes regarding fixed-term contracts and temporary work, the increase in income support measures (starting with COVID-19-related furlough schemes) as well as the initiation of a new phase of active policies supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and the freeze on dismissals for economic reasons. In addition, the manual's treatment has been appropriately revised with the most recent European and national case law in mind, such as the various rulings on "riders", and the important decisions by the Constitutional Court 254/20 and 59/21 regarding dismissals.
