Orientation test for enrollment in three-year degree courses

To enroll in the first-level (three-year) Degree Courses in Economics at the University of L'Aquila, students are invited to take an Aptitude Test, which is administered through an entrance test organized in collaboration with the CISIA Consortium.
The Aptitude Test is not a barrier to enrollment, but aims to assess whether students' overall preparation is adequate and consistent with the requirements needed to successfully attend the chosen Degree Course. It also helps organize orientation and training activities to address any gaps.
If the student does not achieve a score equal to or above a threshold (see below for details on the test), they can still enroll, but they will be assigned an Additional Educational Obligation (OFA), which imposes a restriction on the order in which exams can be taken. The student must pass one of the following exams before continuing with their study plan:

  • General Mathematics, Private Law, or Business Administration (Degree in Economics and Business Administration)
  • Private Law or Business Administration (Degree in Legal Business Operator)

The types of entrance tests are:

  • TOLC@HOME (Online CISIA Test – taken from home)
  • TOLC-E (Online CISIA Test – taken at the university site)

TOLC-E administered in TOLC@HOME mode

It is important to remember that to take the test, students must upload their personal areaTOLC, in the Booking Management section, their identification document by 10:00 AM the day before the TOLC@HOME (by 10:00 AM Friday if the test is on Monday) and upload a photo in View/Edit personal data.

  • TOLC@HOME Booking

Before booking, students must ensure they have the required devices listed in the TOLC@HOME Usage Rules and can set up the room as indicated in the TOLC@HOME Room Setup and Network Requirements document. Students must read and accept these documents during the booking process.

The best way to verify if their internet connection and computer are suitable for the TOLC@HOME is to take the TOLC simulations in the Practice and Placement area.

On the TOLC section of the CISIA website, students will find information on each step:

  • What is the TOLC
  • How to register for TOLC
  • TOLC Regulations
  • TOLC Practice
  • On the day of the TOLC

Test format of the TOLC-E

The test is timed and consists of 36 multiple-choice questions (5 options, only one correct), divided into the following sections:

  • Logic (13 questions)
  • Verbal comprehension (10 questions)
  • Mathematics (13 questions)

1 point is awarded for each correct answer, -0.25 points for each incorrect answer, and 0 points for unanswered questions.

To enroll in the Economics and Business Administration Degree Course without additional educational obligations, students must score equal to or greater than 9 points.

For students in the Legal Business Operator Degree Course, the Mathematics section results are ignored, and a score of equal to or greater than 7 is required.

English section

The test includes a mandatory English language section (30 multiple-choice questions), which allows for a preliminary assessment of English proficiency. Based on the result, the table below indicates the initial proficiency level and corresponding recommendations.
